WELCOME TO SENIORNET ROTORUA
SeniorNet Rotorua is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to empowering all Rotorua people aged 55 and over to use technology. We help individuals navigate the digital world by providing support and training in using computers, tablets, and mobile phones. Our goal is to bridge the digital divide and ensure that everyone can participate in the online community.
DROP-IN TECH ASSISTANCE
At these sessions, we give one-on-one help to solve your problems with your laptop, smartphone or tablet. Currently, we run one session each week:
Monday morning from 9 am until noon, except public holidays, in the Community Meeting Room on the ground floor of the Rotorua Public Library.
Drop-in sessions are open to the public, and are free, although we appreciate a donation.
Please note: we are not currently running drop-in sessions at Age Concern.
TALKING TECH ON TUESDAYS
Each year, we run a "Talking Tech on Tuesdays" programme at Parksyde. For example, in 2024 we ran a series of 10 2-hour sessions spread over 5 months under the theme “Make Technology Your Friend.” It applied to phones, tablets and laptops. The programme was designed to move from basic device setup to more advanced uses.
Age Concern provided effective and much appreciated support by meeting the cost of the venue hire.
These "Talking Tech on Tuesdays" series are open to the public. We are planning towards a programme for 2025. Watch this site for details.
RETIREMENT VILLAGES
On request, we run help sessions for residents of retirement villages.
On request, we provide talks on avoiding scams and frauds using a detailed Powerpoint presentation to outside organisations such as Rotary clubs, Lions clubs and Probus clubs.
MEMBER MEETINGS
Member meetings are at Parksyde in Tarewa Place on the second Monday of each month at 2pm. We have a presenter or two to talk about a relevant subject. This is followed by afternoon tea at the Parksyde Café.
